Abstract:
To obtain an alkylated hydroxyaromatic compound which is usable for producing an oil-soluble lubricating oil additive useful as a dispersing agent by including it into an oily composition.
This aromatic compound having improved viscosity characteristic is formed by alkylating at least one kind of hydroxyaromatic compound with an ethylene-α-olefin polymer having ≥10,000 number-average molecular weight, in which at least 30% of the polymer chain contains terminal ethenylidene unsaturation.
