Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having hue and clarity suitable for an ink jet recording and useful for providing an aqueous ink composition of magenta having strong light fastness and water resistance of a recorded material.
SOLUTION: This compound is expressed by the formula: A-B [A is a dye residue of formula I (R1 is H, an alkoxycarbonyl or benzoyl; R2 is H or methyl); B is H or a substituting group on the dye residue A and preferably acyl or a group of formula II (X and Y are each chlorine, OH, amino, ethanolamino or the like)]. The compound of the formula: A-B, e.g. a compound having R1 of H, R2 of CH3 and Y and Y of COCH3 in the formula I is obtained by condensing a bromide of anthrapyridone of formula III with 5-acetylamino-2-sulfaniline by Ullmann reaction.
