PURPOSE: To provide the new anti-inflammatory agents comprising specific oligosaccharides, capable of forming hydrogen bonds with selectin and are ligands of human selectin receptors and effective in treating inflammatory conditions when formulated with excipient carriers.
CONSTITUTION: The object new anti-inflammatory agents based on carbohydrates, effective in treating rheumatic arthritis, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis and edema or the like, by preparing compositions formulating pharmacologically accepta be excipient carriers such as mannitole, lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, sodium saccharine cellulose, magnesium carbonate or the like, and the ligands having the formula (wherein Ac is acetyl) which bind to human selectin receptors or the molecules having hydrogen bond donor groups equivalent to the circled groups in respect to their ability to form hydrogen bonds with selectin.
