Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new antibiotic from a culture product of an actinomyces of the genus Streptomyces, useful as an active ingredient for an antimicrobial agent, showing antimicrobial activity even against resistant cells, having effectively inhibitory action on proliferation of especially gram-positive bacteria.
CONSTITUTION: This new antibiotic comprises a peptide of the formula. The antibiotic shows effectiveness for inhibiting proliferation of gram-positive bacteria, has antibacterial activity against resistant cells and is useful as an active ingredient for an antimicrobial agent. The new antibiotic is obtained by inoculating Streptomyces nobilis (JCM 4,274) as an actinomyces belonging to the genus Streptomyces into a medium, shaking the actinomyces in the culture or 25 hours to carry out seed culture, inoculating the whole amount of the culture product into a new medium, subjecting the actinomyces to shaking culture at about 30°C for eight days, centrifuging the culture solution to collect the supernatant liquid, salting out the supernatant liquid with ammonium sulfate, separating the formed precipitate, dissolving the precipitate into water, extracting the solution with ethyl acetate and purifying the extract by an octadecyldimethylchlorosilane carrier column.
