To obtain new antibiotics having low toxicity, manifesting antibacterial activity to Gram-positive bacterium, and antitumor activity obtained from strain belonging to genus Actinomadura.
These antibiotics are compounds or salts expressed by the formula (R is H or chlorine atom). Decatromicin A in which R is H, has the following physicochemical properties, Appearance and properties: white powder, an acidic substances; melting point: 223-225°C (decompose); specific rotation [α]D26:+2.0° (C 1.30, methanol); molecular formula: C45H57ClN2O10 and the like. Decatromicin B in which R is Cl, has the following physicochemical properties. Appearance and properties: white powder, an acidic substances; melting point: 202-206°C (decompose); specific rotation [α]D28: -9.0° (C 1.30, methanol); molecular formula: C45H56Cl2O10 and the like. These antibiotics are produced by culturing the producing microorganism producing these antibiotics belonging to genus Actiomadura, in a nutrient medium, separating and collecting from these culture products.
