NEW MATERIAL:2,6-Bis(4-hydroxybenzoyl)naphthalene represented by formula I.
USE: A raw material of polymers excellent in heat resistance, mechanical resistance and moldability.
PREPARATION: A compound represented by formula II (X is 1-6C alkyl) or formula III (Y is phenyl or 1-6C alkyl) is reacted with a 2,6-- naphthalenedicarboxylic halide to obtain the objective aromatic dihydroxy compound represented by formula I.
