Abstract:
To obtain a new 2-alkoxyethyloxycarbonyl-5-norbornene compound having a ≥3C bulky saturated alkoxyl group, and to provide a method for producing the compound.
A 2-alkoxyethyloxycarbonyl-5-norbornene compound represented by formula (I) [R is a 3 to 10C alkyl or a 5 to 12C cycloalkyl (which may have an alkyl substituent)]. The new norbornene compound can be obtained by reacting 5-norbornene-2-carboxylic acid with an alkyl vinyl ether represented by formula (III) in the presence of 5-norbornene-2-carboxylic acid.
