To obtain the subject compound comprising a specific cephalosporin containing a substituted benzyloxyimino group at the 7-position, having extremely excellent antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacterium, especially penicillin-resistant staphylococcus, useful as a therapeutic agent for an infectious disease.
This new cephalosporin is shown by formula I [R1 to R3 and R5 are each H, a halogen, a (substituted) 1-4C alkyl, a 1-4C alkyloxy, mercapto, a 1-4C alkylthio, nitro, cyano, amino, carboxy, a 1-8C acyloxy, etc.; R4 is OH or a 1-8C acyloxy; R7 is H or an alkyloxycarbonyl; A is H, an alkali (alkaline earth) metal, magnesium, ammonium, etc.; R6 is a group of formula II (X is CH2, NH, O or S; T, V, W, Y and Z are each CH or N; R and R' are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, a halogen, cyabim etc.), etc.] in the state of a quaternary aommonioum]. The cephalosporin is extremely excellent in antibacterial activity against staphylococcus, streptococcus, especially against penicillin-resistant staphylococcus and is useful as a therapeutic agent for an infections disease.
