To obtain a composition useful as a highly upgraded water and oil repellent and excellent in low-temperature processability without needing heat treatment by including a copolymer containing a constitutive unit, etc., affording water and oil repellency and a film-forming auxiliary serving as a solvent dissolving or swelling the copolymer.
This composition comprises (A) a multi(2≥) component copolymer composed of (i) a constitutive unit affording water and oil repellency and derived from a monomer of the formula (Rf is a 3-20C fluoroalkyl; R1 is a 1-20 alkylene, etc.; R2 is H or methyl), (ii) a 2nd constitutive unit affording compatibility with a film-forming auxiliary (its solubility parameter value at 25°C is, preferably, 5 to 15) such as glycol ether, ester or diester, (iii) if needed, a 3rd constitutive unit derived from a monomer having a glass-transition temperature of ≤0°C for reducing the glass-transition temperature of the polymer, and (iv) if needed, a 4th constitutive unit affording affinity for a base material, and (B) a film-forming auxiliary, an organic solvent dissolving or swelling the component (A).
