Abstract:

PURPOSE:To obtain a new copolymer containing polyphenylenevinylene structure, having excellent electrical conductivity and adhesivity to metal and suitable for film by copolymerizing a specific cyclohexadiene with a comonomer. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer having a molecular weight of 1,000-200,000 and containing the units of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are H, lower alkyl, etc.) and formula II {R is group of formula III [R<3> and R<4> are H or COOR<7> (R<7> is lower alkyl)], formula IV [R<5> and R<6> are COOR<8> (R<8> is lower alkyl)], etc.} is produced by copolymerizing (A) 1,2-cis-diacetoxy-3,5- cyclohexadiene, etc., produced by the esterification of cis-dihydrocatechol and (B) a comonomer such as dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate at a molar ratio (A:B) of 1:9-9:1.
