To obtain a new coumarin quinolone carboxylic acid (salt) capable of inhibiting the growth of cells of breast cancer, spleen cancer, pharyngeal cancer, etc., and useful as an antibacterial agent, an antitumor agent and an antiviral agent, etc.
This coumarin quinolone carboxylic acid is a compound of the formula [R1, R2 together form NHCH=C(CO2R6)CO (R6 is H, C2H5); R3 is NO2 or NH2; R4, R5 are H, or R3, R4 are H; R5 is F; R3 and R4 together form NHCH-C(CO2R6)CO, etc.], e.g. 1,5-dihydro-1,5-dioxo-7-fluoro-4H-[I]- benzopyrano[3,4-b]pyrridine-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester. Further, the compound of the formula is obtained e.g. by heating a solution obtained by dissolving {[(8-fluoro-2-oxo-2H-[I]benzopyrano-3-yl)amino]methylene} malonic acid diethyl ester in a Dowtherm solvent at a boiling point of the solution.
