Abstract:
To provide a new crystalline form of cefdinir having higher stability and lower solubility than the well-known crystalline form of cefdinir.
The new crystalline form of cefdinir having specific X-ray diffraction spectra is obtained by the following process: at least one organic solvent is added at a level not greater than 10 volume/vol.% to an aqueous solution of cefdinir; the resultant solution is cooled to 0 to +6°C followed by lowering the pH of the solution to 1.5-3 to deposit crystal, which is isolated by a well-known technique.
