Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL: Compounds of the formula I in which R' represents H, 1-12C alkyl, 2-8C alkenyl, 1-6 acyl or 7-15C aralkyl and R represents (substd.) 1-14C aryl or a (substd.) mono or poly-cyclic heterocyclic arom. radical.
EXAMPLE: 1-benzyl-2-oxo-5-n-propyloxy-pyrrolidine.
USE: Treatment for intellectual or nervous asthenias, memory failures, senescence or mental fatigue.
PREPARATION: A compd. of the formula II is condensed with a compd. of the formula III, in which Hal represents halogen, in the presence of a strong base such as NaOH and KOH and tetrabutyl ammonium bromide in a solvent such as THF and DMF to obtain a compd. of the formula I.
