PURPOSE: To provide the new subject compound derivatives useful as a agent for exterminating pests such as insects, nematodes and mites, which are comprised of 2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylic acids having 1-buten-3-ynyl chain at the 3-position.
CONSTITUTION: The new derivatives of 2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylic acid having 1-buten-3-ynyl chain at the 3-position of formula II (R is the same group as R') is obtained by reacting 3-bromoethenyl-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylic acid of formula I (R' is a 1-18C alkyl, an alcohol residue which has been used in the pyrethroid system; Hal is Cl, Br or I; X is H, a halogen or a 1-8C alkyl) with chlorotrimethylsilane in the presence of imidazole, then adding a compound of formula Y-C≡CH (Y is H, a halogen, 1-8C alkyl, trimethylsilyl or the like) and triethylamine to the resulting reaction mixture, and further adding dichloro-bis(triphenylphosphine)palladium and copper iodide to the resulting reaction mixture to react them.
