Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a new compound useful as an antibiotic, especially for treatment of infectious diseases by gram-positive bacteria.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I [X and Y are each H or combined together to form -CO-; R is radical of -(CH2)m-(CA=CB)n-XA (A and B are each H, halogen, 1-8C alkyl or aryl; XA is 6-20C alkyl, 1-8C alkoxy, cyano or the like; (m) is 0-20; (n) is 0-3); Z is H, acidic residue] is provided, 3-de((2,6- dideoxy-3-C-methyl-3-O-methyl-α-L-ribohexopyranocyl)oxy-6-O-methyl-3- oxyerythromycin (R) (E) 9-O-(1-(3-phenylpropyl)-3-piperydinyl) oxime, for example. The compound of formual I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of the formula RCHO in the presence of NaBH3CN, or in the presence of catalyst such as H- and Pd-carrying activated carbon or the like. This has excellent antibiotic activity against gram-positive bacteria of the staphylococcus genus, streptococcus genus, pneumococcus genus, etc.
