Title:
NEW GLYCIDYL ETHER CONTAINING CYCLOHEXYL GROUP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3533577
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the new compounds with a low chlorine content and a low viscosity useful as a reactive diluent, a softening agent and an adhesion enhancer or the like in epoxy resin formulations.
CONSTITUTION: These are the compounds represented by formulae I to IV, for example, compounds of formula IX. The compounds of formulae I to IV are obtained, from the compounds of formulae V to VIII, e.g. β-hydroxy ether or the like as the starting substance, by reacting them with derivatives of ethylene oxide or the like in the presence of a base in an organic solvent at 50 to 200°C under 1 to 10 bar and subsequently hydrogenating them using hydrogen and a catalyst and further reacting them by adding an alkali solution in the presence of preferably 2 to 3 mole % of a phase transfer catalyst such as epichlorohydrin and preferably tetramethyl ammoniumchloride, preferably at 50 to 70°C and under pressures of 90 to 110 Torr. In formulae I to IV, R1 to R3 are each H, (substituted) 1-10C alkyl or aryl hydride; R4 and R5 are each H or 1-20C alkyl; X is the formula -CH2- or the like; Y is O [when (n)=1], N [when (n)=2], (m) is 1 to 3; (n) is 1 or 2; (o) is 1 to 30; Z is the formula -CH2- or the like.
