PURPOSE: The titled composition useful in paints excellent in low-temperature curability, consisting of a trunk portion comprising a specified acetylene/conjugated diene copolymer and a branch portion prepared by grafting a specified monomer onto the pendant vinyl groups of the copolymer.
CONSTITUTION: A graft polymer composition, overall number average MW 2,000W50,000 consisting of 5W95% trunk portion comprising an acetylene/conjugated diene copolymer in which 1W50wt% of the double bonds are accounted for by the 1,2-bonded pendant vinyl portion and 0.03W3.2 diallylic active methylene groups are contained per 100g, and 95W5wt% branch portion comprising polymer chains of a C-C double bond-containing polymerizable monomer grafted mainly onto the pendant vinyl groups of copolymer A. In this polymer, almost all the diallylic methylene groups can remain intact, so that the polymer has low-temperature, short-time curablility. Further, grafting of the polymerizable monomer improves film property.
