To obtain a new polynucleotide for treatment, diagnosis or the like for cardiac disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, insulin resistant diabetes or the like which shows high homology to the nucleic acid coding a specific amino acid sequence of ATG-1709 polypeptide.
This polynucleotide is an isolated new polypeptide which comprises the nucleotide sequence showing at least 80% homology over the whole length to the nucleotide sequence coding the ATG-1709 polypeptide of the formula and coding a polypeptide having ATG-1709 polypeptide activity or the nucleotide sequence complementary to this nucleotide sequence, consists of a secretory protein ligand for 7-TM receptor frizzled family and is useful in the treatment, diagnosis or the like for cardiac disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, obesity, insulin resistant diabetes, central nervous system disease or the like. This polynucleotide is obtained by standard- cloning and screening out a cDNA library arising from human small intestine and using EST analysis.
