PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new derivatives useful as e.g. active ingredients of medicines for the treatment of cardiovascular disorders such as heart failure and hypertension.
CONSTITUTION: This new compound is a 17-substituted hydrazino- or 17- substituted hydroxyamino-14β-hydroxyandrostane derivative shown by formula I [wavy line means α- or β-configuration; A is a group of the formula; (CH2)m ((m) is 0-4) or the formula; (CH=CH)n ((n) is 0-2); B is a bond or a group of the formula; CHR5 (R5 is H or methyl); R2 is H or OH; R1 is H, a (substituted) 2-4C alkyl, (substituted) 2-4C alkoxy or the like; R3 is H or methyl; R4 is a group of the formula; NHC(=NR8)NR9R10 (R8 is H, a 1-4C alkyl, phenyl or the like; R9 and R10 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl or the like) or the like], being useful for e.g. the treatment of cardiovascular disorders such as heart failure and hypertension. This compound of formula I is obtained by reducing a compound of formula II (X is a group of formula III or the like) with hydrogen in a solvent in the presence of a catalyst.
