PURPOSE: To provide a new compd. useful as a therapeutic agents for cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure and hypertension.
CONSTITUTION: A compd. of formula I {Y is, when the double line of a solid line and a broken line is a single bond, β-OR4 (R4 is H, 2-4C alkyl or the like), and, when the double line is a double bond, N...NHC(=N...R5)NR6R7 (R5 is H, 2-4C acyl or the like; R6 and R7 are each H, methyl or the like); A is the group of the formula II or III [R1 is NHC(=X)T, NR6R7 (X is O, S, or the like; T is NR6R7, SR8 or the like; R8 is 1-4C alkyl); R2 is H or methyl; R3 is H or OH]; although, when R6 and R7 is each H and X is O, NH or T, Y is not β-OH, or, when R3 is not H and X is O or S, T is not SR8}, for example (E)-17β-(3-methylguanidino)imino-methyl-5β-androstane-3β,14β-diol. The compd. is obtained by condensation reaction of a compd. of formula IV (D is a group of formula V or C=O) with a compd. of formula H2NNHC(=X)T or a compd. of formula H2NNR6R7.
