To obtain a lithospermum root pigment derivative which does not have a skin contact allergy property, has remarkably improved wide pH stability, heat stability, and filterability, and has high usability as a colorant and a dye and utility for cosmetic compositions, and to provide a method for producing the same.

The new lithospermum root pigment derivative is a complex formed by adding a solution containing the ion of either one metal selected from aluminum, iron, magnesium, zinc, copper, and manganese, a dicarboxylic acid compound, and a vegetable protein hydrolysate.
