Abstract:

PURPOSE: To control the size of a granule of a mold, increase the mass transfer rate of oxygen, a substrate, etc., enable the improvement in productivity of useful substances and further application to an efficient microbial treatment process for treating wastes containing animal and vegetable oils by effectively utilizing characteristics of adsorbing oils.
CONSTITUTION: This method for culturing a mold is to bring a biocatalyst containing the mold supported on a hormite-based chain clay mineral having 70-400&angst fiber diameter and 0.2-400μm fiber length such as sepiolite into contact with a culture medium containing a useful substance or fats and oils in a batchwise, a semibatchwise, a repeated batchwise or a continuous manner, produce the useful substance, etc., and recycle and utilize the biocatalyst. Furthermore, a carrier for immobilizing the mold used therefor and an immobilized microbial cell composition for culturing are obtained.
