Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prepare a compound useful for preparing isocyanate adducts at a low cost by reacting a polyfunctional acetoacetic acid ester with ammonia or a primary amine in the presence of a catalyst such as a BF3 complex, a specific organic acid or the like in a solvent-free process.

CONSTITUTION: By reacting a polyfunctional acetoacetate [e.g. poly(oxypropylene)diol acetoacetate or the like] with ammonia or an organic compound having at least one primary amino group (e.g. 1,5-diamino-2-methylpentane or the like) in the presence of an acidic catalyst such as boron trifluoride etherate, an organic acid having pKa values of from 0.1 to 0.8 (e.g. trifluoracetic acid or the like) in the absence of a solvent, the objective amine-terminated compound useful for preparation of isocyanate adducts by reaction with an organic siocyanate as a chain-lengthening agent for preparing polyurethane is obtained at a low cost.
