PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound which is a pure emetic toxin originated from Bacillus cereus known as a pathogenic microorganism causative of food poisoning.

CONSTITUTION: This new microbial toxin is the compound of formula. It can be produced by culturing Bacillus cereus AJ-12968 strain in a medium, subjecting the cultured medium to centrifugal separation, precipitating the supernatant with 80% saturated ammonium sulfate solution, dissolving the obtained precipitate in water, adding ethanol, removing the precipitate, concentrating and fractionating the supernatant, subjecting the fraction to column chromatography, thin-layer chromatography, etc., and extracting with methanol.
