Abstract:

To obtain a new nitrogen-containing heterocyclic derivative useful as a constituent component for an organic electroluminescent element (organic EL element) and the organic EL element which attains high luminance, high luminescence efficiency and a long life due to improvement in adhesion of an electrode by using the nitrogen-containing heterocyclic derivative in at least one layer of an organic compound layer.

The nitrogen-containing heterocyclic derivative is represented by general formula (1) HAr-L-Ar1-Ar2(1) (HAr is a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring which may contain a substituent group; L is a single bond and is an arylene group which may contain a substituent group or a heteroarylene group which may contain a substituent group; Ar1is a bifunctional aromatic hydrocarbon group which may contain a substituent group; Ar2is an aryl group which may contain a substituent group or a heteroaryl group which may contain a substituent group). The organic EL element comprises the nitrogen-containing heterocyclic derivative in at least one layer of the organic compound layer.
