Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain new π compounds having a molecular structure of an extended 5-conjugation and especially useful as an electronic organic material.
CONSTITUTION: Compounds of formula I (Ar is heterocyclic aromatic; n is 1 or 2; Provided that Ar is not 2-pyridyl, 4-pyridyl or 2-quinolyl), e.g. 1-[3-(9- ethylcarbazolyl)]-2-(1-pyrenly) ethylene. The compounds of formula I can be obtained by reacting a phosphonic acid ester derivative of formula II (R is lower alkyl) with a carbonyl compound of formula III in the presence of a base (e.g. sodium methylate) in a solvent (e.g. N,N-dimethylformamide) at room temperature to 100°C. The objective olefin compounds of high purity can be obtained in a short reaction time in a high yield under a remarkably mild condition.
