Abstract:
To provide a new type of phosphodiesterase [phosphodiesterase 11 (PDE11)] and to provide a new method for characterizing, identifying, and selecting an inhibitor against the phosphodiesterase.
The phosphodiesterase 11 (PDE11) selected from the group consisting of proteins that are derived from human or rat and have a specific sequence each, and proteins that have an amino acid sequence each modified by deleting, substituting or adding one amino acid or more from, in or to the above amino acid sequence and have an activity of hydrolyzing a cyclic nucleotide, a gene encoding the phosphodiesterase, and a method for characterizing, identifying, and selecting an inhibitor against the phosphodiesterase are provided.
