Abstract:
To provide a pinoresinol reductase gene originated from an organism except plants.
There are provided the pinoresinol reductase gene encoding a protein comprising a specific amino acid sequence, the pinoresinol reductase gene originated from a Sphingomonadaceae bacterium. A transformed plant having the pinoresinol reductase gene transferred in a functionable form, and the modified metabolisms of lignin and lignan in comparison with a plant to which the pinoresinol reductase gene is not transferred.
