Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a new polyether polyol which can give a light-weight polyurethane foam by effecting the addition reaction of a diaminomethyl compound having a bicyclo(2,2,1)heptane ring with an alkylene oxide.
CONSTITUTION: A diaminomethyl compound in an amount of 1mol having a bicyclo(2,2,1)heptane ring and represented by formula I or II (wherein R1 to R6 are each H or methyl; and (x) and (n) are each 0 or 1) is allowed to enter an addition reaction with 13mol or above of an alkylene oxide to obtain a polyether polyol. This addition reaction is effected in such a manner that 1mol of the diaminomethyl groups are allowed to enter an addition reaction with 4-6mol of an alkylene oxide in the absence of any catalyst or in the presence of an amine compound catalyst, and then the addition reaction is continued in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide catalyst until 13-20mol, in total, of an alkylene oxide is reacted.
