Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a water-repellent and dyeable functional polymer.

CONSTITUTION: This polymer is derived by replacing at least one hydroxylic hydrogen atom of a polymeric carrier compound with a group represented by the formula: -CH2CHX-CH2NH-CnH2n+1 (wherein X is hydroxy, halogeno or 1-3C lower alkoxy; and n is an integer of 8 or greater). The functional groups imparting water repellency and dyeability are introduced at a low degree of substitution, and therefore this compound can fully develop water repellency and dyeability while retaining the functions inherent in the carrier compound. It is also excellent in the fastness to washing deleterious to the properties.
