Title:
NEW PRODUCTION METHOD OF PARTICULATE NATURAL POLYMER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2560235
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a finely divided natural polymer usable even in application fields of nonaqueous system according to a dry and room-temp. process wherein a volatile org. solvent is adsorbed on a dry natural polymer, which is then mechanically pulverized.
CONSTITUTION: A volatile water-soluble org. solvent such as a ketone or an alcohol is absorbed on a dry natural polymer, which is then mechanically pulverized to obtain a particulate natural polymer. According to this procedure, fine particles of the natural polymer can be efficiently produced by comparatively easy operations of drying and addition of a slight amt. of an org. solvent. In order to prevent the particles formed by pulverization from re-agglomerating, the water adsorption thereof is preferred to be as low as possible. When the particles are heated under reduced pressure, the water absorption thereof can be most effectively decreased to at most 0.5%. On the other hand, when the polymer is heated at a temp. of 105°C for 12 hours, the water content thereof can be decreased to at most 1%. When the water content is at most about 1%, no hindrance to pulverization occurs.
