To obtain a new protein having activity such as organic ion transportation and the like and a DNA for coding the protein and provide a method for screening a compound promoting or inhibiting the activity of the protein and the compound obtained by the screening method.

The new protein has an amino acid sequence equal to or essentially equal to an amino acid sequence expressed by a specific sequence and is useful, e.g., as a diagnostic marker and the like of respiratory diseases, kidney diseases and the like. The compound obtained by the screening method using the protein promotes or inhibits the activity of theprotein and can be used, e.g., as a preventive agent, a therapeutic agent or the like of the aforesaid diseases.
