PURPOSE: To obtain a new pyrazine derivative, capable of being readily synthesized and useful as electrophotographic photoreceptors having characteristics such as high sensitivity and low residual potential.
CONSTITUTION: A pyrazine derivative expressed by formula I (A is aromatic hydrocarbon which may have a substituent group or aromatic heterocylic ring which may have a substituent group; n is an integer of 0-3), e.g. a compound expressed by formula II. The compound expressed by formula I is obtained by carrying out dehydrating condensation of 3,6-diamino-2,5-pyrazinedicarbonitrile expressed by formula III with an aldehyde expressed by formula IV (used in a molar amount of preferably ≥2 times based on the compound expressed by formula III). For example, a charge producing layer 2 containing the pyrazine derivative which is a charge producing material and dispersed in a polymer 3 is laminated on an electrically conductive support and a charge transport layer 4 is then laminated on the resultant layer 2. The obtained laminate is used as a laminated type photoreceptor.
