Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new quinone compound having excellent compatibility with resin binders and further having excellent electron transportability.
SOLUTION: A compound of formula I [R1-R6 are each H, a halogen, a halogenated alkyl, a (substituted) aryl or the like; (n) is 0-4; (m) is 1-4], and a compound of formula II [R7-R13 are each H, a halogen, a halogenated alkyl, a (substituted) 1-6C alkyl, a (substituted) cyclic alkyl, a (substituted) alkyl or the like]. For example, a compound of formula III. The compound of formula I or II is obtained by dissolving a naphtholic compound or a phenolic compound in an organic solvent such as chloroform, dichloromethane or benzene and subsequently oxidizing the naphtholic compound or the phenolic compound with an oxidizing agent such as potassium permanganate, potassium ferricyanide or manganese dioxide.
