PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound which exhibits highly strong affinity with melatonin receptors and/or exhibits good selectivity for any one melatonin- agonizing receptor sub-type.
SOLUTION: A compound of the formula : A-G1-Cy-G2-Cy-G3-B {A is a group of formula I [Q is S or the like; R1 to R3 are each Ra [Ra is a (substituted) 1 to 6C alkyl or the like] or the like]; B is a group of formula II; G1 and G3 are each a (substituted) 1 to 4C alkylene chain; Cy is a group of formula III (X, Y are each OH or the like; R4 is H or the like; the broken line is a single bond or the like) or the like; G2 is a chain of formula IV [W1 to W3 are each 0 or the like; 0≤(n); (m)≤6], provided that N-{2-[5-({3-[2(acetylamino)ethyl]-1H- indol-5-yl}-methyl)-1H-indol-3-yl]-ethyl}acetamide is excluded}, for example, N-(2-{7-({8-[2-(acetylamino)ethyl]-2-naphthyl]oxy)ethoxy}-1-naphthyl)ethyl) acetamide. The compound of the formula: A-G1-Cy-G2-Cy-G3-B is obtained, for example, by a method using a compound the formula: A-G1-Cy-OMe as a starting substance.
