PURPOSE: To provide the subject new compound useful as a component of a catalyst for the polymerization of ethylene and α-olefin.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I [A1 is tetrasubstituted cyclopentadienyl; A2 is (substituted) fluorenyl; A3 and A4 are 1-10C alkyl, 6-20C aryl, alkylaryl, arylalkyl, halogenated aryl, H, etc.; Q is l-10C hydrocarbon group, etc., binding A1 and A2 together; R1 and R2 are halogen, 6-20C aryl, alkylaryl, etc.; M is Ti, Zr or Hf], e.g. dimethylsilylene (tetramethylcyclopentadienyl) (9-fluorenyl)zirconium dichloride. The compound of formula I wherein Q is C can be produced by reacting a fulvene compound of formula A3A4Q=A1 with a compound of formula HA2Li and HCl, reacting the produced compound of formula A3A4QHA1HA2 with n-BuLi to obtain a compound of formula II and reacting the compound with a compound of formula MX4.
