Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new triphenylene derivative useful as a liquid crystal material.
CONSTITUTION: A new triphenylene derivative is expressed by formula I [R is formula II (R1 and R2 each is H, a halogen, an alkyl or an alkoxy; Ar is an aryl; Y is O or S; (m) is 1-5)]}, e.g. 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11-hexa[α-(2,4-di-tert- aminophenoxy) acetyloxy]-triphenylene. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting 2,3,6,10,11-hexahydroxytriphenylene to esterification reaction with an acid chloride in the presence of a base such as pyridine. Furthermore, in a compound of formula I, the substituent group R is expressed by formula III, formula TV, formula V, etc.
