Abstract:

To obtain a new urethane compound having a norbornane skeleton and useful as raw materials for a blocked isocyanate, a diisocyanate as a raw material, a developer for thermal recording paper, powder coating, etc.

This urethane compound is expressed by the formula [R1 and R2 are each an alkyl, a (substituted) cycloalkyl or a (substituted) aryl], e.g. 2,5-bis(butoxycarbonylaminomethyl)-bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane. The compound of the formula is pref. produced by reacting a diamine such as 2,5-bis(aminomethyl)- bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane with urea and an aliphatic alcohol such as n-butanol at 120-240°C and 0.08-2 MPa for 5-10 h while removing ammonia as a by-product out of the system so as to make the concentration of ammonia in a liquid reactant become ≤1 wt.%.
