Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a new compound having excellent antiviral activity and no cell proliferation-inhibitory activity, thus useful for e.g. antiviral agents.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula I (X is halogen; R is H or phosphate residue), e.g. (E)-5-(2-halogenovinyl)-2'-deoxy-2'-methylideneuridine. The compound of the formula I can be obtained by the following method: the hydroxyl group of a compound of formula II as the starting material is protected and oxidized to effect methylidenation into a compound of formula III (Y is protected hydroxyl group), which is, in turn, deprotected and, if needed, phosphorylated.
