Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sputtering target material having no composition unevenness by adding prescribed amount of Fe or Co to a NiTa alloy and dispersing a Ta compound phase finely and having enhanced mechanical strength, and magnetic recording media by making an adhesion layer by using the same.SOLUTION: There is provided an alloy for adhesive layer of magnetic recording media which is a Ni-Ta-based alloy, contains Ta of 15 to 50 at% and the balance Ni, Fe, Co and inevitable impurities, has percentage of Ni, Fe and Co of, by at%, Ni:Fe:Co=98.5 to 20:0 to 50:0 to 60, total amount of Fe and Co of 1.5 at% or more, a FCC phase and a Ta compound phase and diameter of maximum inner contact circle in the Ta compound phase of 10 μm or less, a sputtering target material and magnetic recording media. Preferably, the alloy for adhesive layer of magnetic recording media further contains 10 at% or less of one or more element selected from AL, Ga, In, Si, Ge, Sn, Zr, Hf, B, Cu, P, C, Ru and Cr.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
