To provide a nick detection device of a gear specifying a gear with a nick, or the like.
In this nick detection device 10 of the gear, existence of a nick of a gear is detected in a device 20 including a rotating shaft 21 on which a gear 31 is mounted, and another rotating shaft 22 on which another gear 33 constituting a gear pair A by being engaged with the gear 31 is mounted. The device includes: a vibration detection means (step S1) for detecting vibration of the device 20 when rotating the rotating shaft 21, and outputting a vibration signal; a filter processing means (step S3) for extracting a signal in a frequency band corresponding to a characteristic frequency of the gear pair A from the vibration signal; an envelope processing means (step S4) for applying envelope processing to the extracted signal; a signal separation means (step S5) for separating each signal corresponding to each rotating shaft 21, 22 from the signal to which the envelope processing os applied; and a nick detection means (step S6) for detecting a gear with a nick from the gears 31, 33 constituting the gear pair A based on the separated signal.
