Abstract:
To provide a nickel-hydrogen storage battery whose capacity is high with a superior charge discharge cycle life.
An intermetallic compound the composition of which is expressed by a formula ZrTitMnuMovVwCrxCoyNiz (where 0.15≤t≤0.25, 0.4≤u≤0.6, 0.01≤v≤0.2, 0≤w≤0.1, 0.15≤x≤0.25, 0≤y≤0.2, 1≤z≤1.3, 1.6≤(u+v+w+x+y+z)/(1+t)≤2) and in which the main metal phase thereof belongs to Laves phase and in powder X-ray diffraction the sum of the integral value of diffraction rays not belonging to the Laves phase is less than 5% of the sum of the integral value of the whole diffraction rays is used as hydrogen storage alloy powder being negative electrode.
