Abstract:
To separate magnesium from a hydroxide of nickel containing magnesium at a low cost.SOLUTION: A refining method of nickel hydroxide includes a primary cleaning step for mixing a hydroxide containing nickel and magnesium with a cleaning liquid and forming and cleaning mixed slurry of over pH 6.5 under stirring and then subjecting the obtained slurry to solid-liquid separation to obtain a cleaning waste liquid and a cleaned material. A sulfuric acid solution is added to the cleaned material obtained in the primary cleaning step and leaches the cleaned material in a sulfuric acid leaching step. The leached slurry obtained in the sulfuric acid leaching step is subjected to solid-liquid separation into a leaching solution and a leached residue. The separated leaching solution is subjected to solvent extraction to obtain a nickel sulfate solution. An alkali is added to the nickel sulfate solution for neutralization to obtain nickel hydroxide having the magnesium content reduced.SELECTED DRAWING: None
