Abstract:
To provide a cathode active material which allows especially a sodium content to be surely decreased, and which enables further enhancement in battery characteristic by achievement of a high porosity and long life, and its precursor.SOLUTION: Nickel manganese cobalt composite hydroxide is a precursor of a cathode active material, comprising secondary particles resulting from agglomeration of primary particles containing nickel, manganese and cobalt, or the primary and secondary particles. In the nickel manganese cobalt composite hydroxide, the sodium content is less than 0.0005 mass%. The nickel manganese cobalt composite hydroxide particles have a porosity of over 50% to 80%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
