Abstract:
To provide a nickel oxide ore smelting method, which is a smelting method for producing valuable metal by reducing a mixture containing nickel oxide ore, and in which a high-quality (high-grade) valuable metal can be produced efficiently.SOLUTION: A nickel oxide ore smelting method of the present invention includes a mixture preparation step of preparing a mixture containing a nickel oxide ore, a treated product containing a metal component that forms an alloy with nickel and has a melting point of the alloy lower than the melting point of nickel, and a carbonaceous reducing agent, a mixture shaping step of shaping a pellet from the mixture, a reduction treatment step of heating and reducing the pellet obtained in the mixture shaping step to yield a nickel-containing valuable metal and a slag, and a recovery step of recovering the valuable metal by separating the valuable metal obtained in the reduction treatment step and the slag.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
