Abstract:
To provide a smelting method for a nickel oxide ore capable of enhancing a grade of a metal to be obtained, and capable of efficiently producing a high-quality metal.SOLUTION: A smelting method for a nickel oxide ore is configured to reduce a nickel oxide ore to produce ferronickel. The smelting method for a nickel oxide ore includes: a mixing step of mixing a nickel oxide ore and carbonaceous reductant to obtain a mixture M; and a reduction step of applying a reduction treatment to the mixture M in a reduction furnace 1 equipped with a burner 13. The reduction step is configured to apply the reduction treatment to the mixture M while supplying an inert gas to the mixture M placed inside the reduction furnace 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
