PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel powder which is inexpensive and excellent in weather resistance, exhibits low electrical resistance when kneaded with a resin, can be stably used over a long period of time, and is suitable as conductive particles for a conductive paste and a conductive resin, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: The nickel powder contains 1-40 mass% of cobalt element and comprises secondary particles formed by aggregation of primary particles. The carbon content of the nickel powder is 0.7 wt.% or less. The average primary particle diameter dof the primary particles in the nickel powder is 0.5-3.0 μm. The ratio σ/dof the standard deviation σ of primary particle diameters to the average primary particle diameter dis 0.4 or less. The average secondary particle diameter dof the secondary particles in the nickel powder is 18-50 μm. The carbon content of the nickel powder is 0.7 mass% or less.
