To obtain a new compound highly resistant to hydrolysis and useful as e.g. a raw material for ceramics for electrical use, by reaction of a hydrocarbon solution of an alkoxide of Ta, Nb or Ti with a carboxylic acid, diol, glycol monoether, water or the like.
This new compound is a new organometallic compound highly resistant to hydrolysis, storable for a long period and usable as e.g. a raw material for producing ceramics for electrical use, being shown by the formula [M is Ti (IV), Nb (V) or Ta (V); for Nb and Ta, (x+y+z)=5, for Ti, (x+y+x)=4; A is the alkoxide ligand of a diol and/or glycol monoether; B is the carboxylate ligand of a 6-19C fatty acid]. This organometallic compound is obtained by dissolving a metal alkoxide of M(OR)5 (R is an organic group) for Ta or Nb, or M(OR)4 for Ti, in a hydrocarbon followed by reaction of the resulting solution with one or more kinds of reagents including carboxylic acid, diol, glycol monoether, water, etc., successively.
