Abstract:
To provide a nitrate transport protein which is originated from a plant belonging to the genus Nicotiana and participates in a process that a plant absorbs nitrate ion from the outside and further in a process for the intercellular transport of the absorbed nitrate ion in the plant, and to provide a gene encoding the protein.
This polypeptide is represented by four specific base sequences cloned from the total RNA of each organ (for example, mesophyll, midrib, stem, or root) of Nicotiana tabacum and by four amino sequences encoded in the base sequences.
