NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (X is H, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxyl; R1 and R2 are lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or lower alkynyl, provided that R1 and R2 are not lower alkyl at the same time).
EXAMPLE: 3-Chloro-4-propargyloxy-5-methoxy-nitrobenzene.
USE: An agricultural and horticultural germicide, capable of exhibiting selectively powerful germicidal effect on plant pathogenic germs showing resistance to cyclic imide based germicides and useful for powdery mildew, black spot, leaf spot, cercospora leaf spot, etc.
PREPARATION: A benzene derivative expressed by formula II (X1 is H or lower alkyl) is reacted wit a nitrating agent, e.g. nitric acid, in or without a solvent, e.g. sulfuric acid, at -60°C W room temperature to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
